Minor in Jewish Studies
Students can earn a Minor in Jewish Studies by taking
15 credits of Jewish Studies courses. No more than 6 of
these credits can be earned at an institution other than
UMCP, and at least 9 of the credits must be upper level.
The 15 credits must be distributed in the following manner:
One course in Jewish History; One course in Jewish Literature;
One course in Jewish Thought; Two other courses in Jewish
Studies (Lower level Hebrew and Yiddish may be counted as "other courses," but only
3 credits of lower level language will be counted toward
the Minor).
Minor in Religious Studies
Students at the University can obtain a Minor in Religious
Studies, a program designed to introduce students to the
study of religion in historical, sociological, and philosophical
context. To obtain this Minor, students must take HIST
216, Introduction to the Study of World Religions, and four
other courses which deal with at least two different cultures
and religions. Naturally Jewish Studies courses count toward
the Minor in Religious Studies.
